The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Action Fund has a great statement of resolve regarding LGBT rights that I encourage everyone to sign.
Acknowledging the need for positivity in spite of continued discrimination, the Action Into Anger Declaration states:
“I am angry. Angry that discrimination has been written into the California, Arizona, and Florida Constitutions, and an adoption ban has been written into law in Arkansas. I am angry that the right-wing continues to spread lies and hate in order to take away the fundamental rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. I am angry that my fellow Americans have not yet fully embraced the fact that every loving couple — no matter their gender or sex — deserves the freedom to marry, and that every person is entitled to equal treatment under the law.
But I also pledge that I will not give into my anger. I will not fight lies with lies, or hate with hate. I promise to channel my anger — all of it — into bringing about more positive change. I will keep fighting, from this day forward until discrimination is banished from our constitutions, until every same-sex couple is free to marry the person they love, and until every LGBT person has full equality.”
