Sally Kern Wants To Control Heterosexual Marriage Too

The woman who wants to control *your* marriage.

Oklahoma Republican legislator Sally Kern is infamous for her rabid homophobia, once stating that gays posed a bigger threat to the nation than terrorists.

She now has her sights on restricting divorce for heterosexuals.

Kern has proposed House Bill 2279, which would prohibit using incompatability or irreconcilable differences as justification for divorce under the following conditions:
* The couple has been married for at least 10 years
* The couple has children under the age of 18
* Either party files an objection to the divorce

It remains to be seen how much traction this bill will receive, but the insight this provides regarding the right-wing agenda is priceless. While gay marriage is the current focus, their goal is to force everyone to live under their definition of Christianity. It is foolish to think their plans stop at controlling marriages. What’s next, restricting free speech or education? How about imposing dress codes?

That is why groups like The Family should be viewed on a similar plane as any other fundamentalist group. The “undesirables” are always the first target, but their agenda undermines the freedom of everyone.
